The Word Social Forum in Porto Alegre unleashed a strong resistance
against neoliberalism, and towards the construction of a new world.
Nothing will be able to stop this process.
In order to increase our strength, we have to spread this resistance
throughout the world by organizing World Social Forums in several other
countries.
To achieve this purpose, the World Social Forum Organizing Committee has
the following proposal:
1 - To organize the World Social Forum every year.
2 - To organize the World Social Forum during the same period of the World
Economic Forum.
3 - To organize the 2002 World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, following a
set of criteria, orientations, and suggestions by participants, as well as
learning from the experiences of the first WSF. At the same time, we will
stimulate the organization of similar events, during the same period, in
other countries around the world.
4 - To establish a WSF International Committee.
5 - To organize the 2003 WSF in a country other than Brazil, where we
identify good organizing conditions, based on the 2002 events.
6 - In 2004, we can again have several events around the world,
alternating this process every year.
By April, 2001, the WSF Organizing Committee will prepare:
. A set of criteria and an organizing guide for the 2002 events;
. A list of countries that are willing to host the World Social Forums in
2002, in addition to the Porto Alegre event.
The documents, papers, and proposals produced during the WSF will be
available on the following websites:
